President Donald Trump says that the United States is not ready to make a trade agreement with China, but leaves open the possibility that the two nations may come to an agreement one day.
Speaking in Tokyo on Monday, Trump said of China, ” they’d like to make a deal. We’re not ready to make a deal.” He added: “We are charging tens of millions of dollars in tariffs and that number could increase very, very important and very easy.”
Still, Trump predicted a ” very good deal with China in the future because I don’t think China can continue to pay these truly hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs.”
The two largest economies in the world are in a tense confrontation over trade. Donald Trump said that he expected to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, next month at a G-20 meeting in Japan.

But Trump says he sees it differently, and it doesn’t matter anyway. Trump said that maybe North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was trying to draw attention to the evidence.
Trump spoke Monday in Tokyo together with the Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe, who also believes that the recent testing of North Korea breached the UN resolutions.
Trump’s National Security Adviser, John Bolton, agrees that sanctions on Pyongyang should be maintained.
North Korea responded Monday by calling Bolton a ” war trafficker.”
The Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe, thanked the support of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in the effort of Japan to resolve their dispute for decades over the abduction of Japanese citizens, renewing its willingness to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un without preconditions.
Abe said at a joint press conference with Trump after the summit on Monday that the two leaders were on the same page about its policy of denuclearization of North Korea and that Trump has expressed its full support to the priority of Abe to resolve the problem of kidnapping.
North Korea admitted to having kidnapped a dozen Japanese citizens in the 70s and 80s and allowed five to return to their homes, but he says others died.
Trump mentioned the abduction issue to Kim at his last two summits. Abe says there’s no specific prospect for a summit with Kim.

Speaking in Tokyo on Monday, Trump also said he is not bothered by North Korea’s short-range missile tests earlier this month.
The national security advisor to Trump, John Bolton, said the tests violated the resolutions of the Security Council of the UN. Bolton said sanctions against Pyongyang should be maintained.
North Korea responded Monday by calling Bolton an” agent of war “and a”defective human product”.
